July went by in a blur! Allen lost his job the end of June but as the saying goes when one door closes another one opens. In his case, 3 or 4 doors are opening. He is sorting through things to decide which one to go through. A couple of the possibilities would involve us moving back to El Paso so we made a quick trip over there the first part of July so he could meet with some people. We also were able to surprise an old friend by showing up at his Masonic installation of officers and visit with some other friends. El Paso is growing leaps and bounds! It was a good trip and we got to eat at some of our favorite Mexican food places. That was delicious!
When we returned from the trip, Sarah and I spent the rest of the month crocheting like crazy to attend the Texas OES Grand Chapter in Beaumont, TX as vendors. We were there from the 24th through the 28th. It was a really good show for us and we met some truly special people and got to visit with some friends. One of those friends was Candy Barnes from El Paso. She was the Conductress when Sarah, Allen and I joined the OES in El Paso. She came by our booth a couple of times and we laughed and visited. She bought some necklaces from us and on Saturday gave us big hugs before we left. That will be the last time we see her. She was in a horrific car accident on her way home to El Paso. Her car blew a tire on I-10 and she lost control of her car and ended up on the other side of the highway where she was hit by an 18-wheeler. She was killed along with her oldest daughter, one of her twin grandbaby girls and two of her grandsons. Her youngest daughter is still in the hospital fighting for her life. The other twin is doing well. In a matter of seconds, this family lost 5 members! So tragic! I feel so bad for her husband and her other 2 daughters. All I can do is to continue to pray for them. This is a terrible reminder to us all that life is precious and we have no guarantees. Any one of us could be gone by the end of the day. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and don't forget to tell them you love them every chance you get. You never know when those will be the last words you say to them!
This sadness is weighing heavy on us right now but life must go on. Sarah will celebrate her 30th birthday on the 9th of August and has a party planned on the 11th to celebrate! My mother's birthday is the following week on the 16th and she will turn 77. We have a lot of friends with August birthdays so I hope you all have very special days!
I just ordered more thread yesterday that Sarah and I will be busy crocheting. We have 4 events we will be attending starting this weekend through the 20th of October and then we will be attending a week long event starting November 1st. This, together with our website sales, will certainly keep us busy this fall.
That's about all of the news for now. Please keep us posted on what is happening in your part of the world. Just remember...I love all of you!
