Slow but steady

Staples are out and all areas are looking much better. The staples were irritating the skin in a couple of places and they didn't look very good. With the staples out, those areas look much better. I still have a couple of sore spots but the doctor said I should continue to take it easy for another 2 or 3 weeks. All in all, things are very good.

The 'essential' items were unpacked and put away before my surgery. Now I am gradually unpacking and putting away the rest of our stuff. I am not supposed to be lifting anything heavy yet, so it is a slow process but at least it is progressing. I see a couple of large donations to Goodwill in my near future. If we aren't using things, there is really no point in keeping them. Especially when someone else might be able to use them.

So far, 2012 is looking very promising. What have you been up to?

Time to catch my breath

Wow! So much has happened the past few months that I have had very little time to even stop and catch my breath. I have been in and out of doctor's offices, emergency rooms and even the hospital with diverticulitis issues that finally ended in surgery just after Christmas to remove the effected portion of the colon. Now I have been forced to slow down and rest while everything heals. With our apartment lease expiring, I wanted to get moved and settled before the surgery was done and all of this fell right at Christmas so it has been a whirlwind past 6 weeks. We are moved and pretty much settled in (a big thanks to Sarah and Keith for their help) and the surgery seemed to go well. I report back to the doctor this Wednesday morning to have staples removed. Now I can slow down and relax. We still have a few items in storage that we will be getting out later this month and I have some storage and craft supplies I need to go through but all of the major issues have been addressed and we can settle in and enjoy our new home. I hope that 2012 will be a more relaxed and calm year for us.
